Seizes 120 cft illicit timber, arrests smugglers
BARAMULLA (KPS): As per reports, a naka party of Forest Protection Force Baramulla upon receipt of specific information laid a night naka near Veerwan area on Baramulla Srinagar National Highway. A truck bearing Registration No JKO2 BS 1163 was signalled to stop.Upon search of the vehicle, illicit timber (Deodar/Round) 6 logs :120 cft were found loaded in it. Two smugglers namely Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray r/o kokernag (driver) and Bashir Ahmad Bhat r/o kokernag were arrested on the spot and Vehicle seized and have been taken to FPF Reporting centre Baramulla for questioning and interrogation. The truck belongs to Javed Ahmad r/o Narwal Jammu. The smugglers with the help of a local habitual forest offender namely Ab Rashid Shah R/O Nowshera had loaded the State Forest Corporation (SFC) timber stocks from a Kucha Loading Point( KLP) of Compartment No 16 in Nowshera Forest Block of Boniyar Forest Range and were transporting it to Srinagar to a Bandsaw Unit Owner (Kingpin)whose identity is being ascertained
FIR is being lodged by FPF in this case and further investigation to crack the nexus has been taken up.
Joint Director FPF Kashmir Irfan Ali Shah while talking to kps correspondent said “I congratulate FPF Baramulla for this big success.We will show no mercy to any forest offender. I have ordered for a full-fledged inquiry in this case and directed my forces to intensify night vigil and naka in Baramulla”.
