SRINAGAR: Security forces today launched a search operation in a village in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
According official sources, on a specific information about the presence of militants, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Drabgam in Pulwama district last night.
However, when the security forces were sealing the particular area in the village, militants opened fire, they said adding security forces also retaliated ensuing an encounter.
However, due to darkness, search operation was stopped through additional security forces were rushed to plug all exit points to foil any attempt by militants to escape, they said.
There could be two to three militants holed up in the area, they added. (UNI)
