Shabir Shah not allowed medicine in Tihar jail, called ‘Aatankwadi’ by inmates: Freedom Party

SRINAGAR: The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Friday expressed serious concern over the ill and inhuman treatment meted out to its chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah at Tihar jail saying he is not allowed taking medicine for the third consecutive day and is abused by notorious criminals of the jail by calling him an “Aatankwadi” (terrorist).

“Shah Sahib being a diabetic patient is not even provided the basic diet not to speak of the diabetic diet,” a party spokesperson quoted Shah’s family members, who met him on Friday, as saying.

They said the condition of Shabir Ahmad Shah continues to be severe despite the court order. “Though jail authorities take rupees 6000 per month for every inmate but they refused the same to be deposited for Shah Sahib. This reveals authorities are deliberately playing with the life of Shah Sahib,” he said.

The spokesperson reiterated his concern over lodging of Shabir Ahmad Shah among notorious criminals in jail. “Shah Sahib is lodged at Jail number 7 where about 60 to 70 hardcore criminals are placed and they are calling him Aatankwadi (terrorist) and abusing him. This is a serious threat to his life,” he said.

The Freedom Party spokesperson urged the human rights organisations to take serious cognisance of the above mentioned plight of the senior resistance leader of Jammu Kashmir, Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is subjected to worst kind of political vengeance by Indian authorities.
