Mobile service snapped in valley as precautionary measure

SRINAGAR: Mobile service of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was snapped as a precautionary measure in the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, where 71st Independence Day (ID) celebrations are being held today.
The mobile service had already been suspended from August 12 evening in major parts of South Kashmir, where three militants and two soldiers were killed in an encounter.
Two civilians were also killed in the security force firing on demonstrators in south Kashmir on August 13.
Mobile service of all companies, including BSNL, was suspended at 0800 hrs in the valley, including in summer capital, Srinagar, where the main ID functions would be held in Bakshi Stadium under unprecedented security arrangements.
Suspension of the mobile service has badly affected media persons, who could not file their spot stories. (UNI)
