Deposit in banks, black money figures given by PM based on facts, investigations: Jaitley
New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today clarified that the figure quoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the rampart of the Red Fort yesterday regarding deposits in banks and black money is authentic, based on the facts and investigations done by Department of Revenue.
Answering a query about the source of the figures, Mr Jaitley said these figures have nothing to do with the Reserve Bank of India’s counting of notes, but the figures are from Finance Ministry’s department of revenue who has done the data mining.
“The Prime Minister does not require to quote the source of the figures about the deposits in the banks and black money in his address to the nation from the rampart of Red Fort. I am the Minister and I am replying you and giving you the quote,” said the Finance Minister. (UNI)
