UP govt orders probe against BRD hospital principal on July 10 but no action before the death of children
Lucknow: Death of more than 30 children in a day reportedly due to shortage of oxygen in the BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur could have been avoided if the Uttar Pradesh government was sincere in taking action even after announcing the same one month ago in the State Council.
On the other hand, letters of authorities to the Director of the BRD Hospital also disclosed that the liquefied oxygen was totally disrupted on August 10 when there were reports of death of 33 children though government denied that there was any death due to shortage of oxygen.
According to reports, the Yogi Adityanath government had received complaints of corruption against the medical college principal Dr Rajiv Mishra and it had even ordered an inquiry, which was signed by Medical Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon on July 10, a month before the tragedy struck.
The copy of a letter, written by Mr Tandon to C P Chand, a member of the UP Council, informing him of the probe, said, “Director General of Medical Education has been ordered to conduct the probe.
” The MLC was informed because he had raised allegations of corruption against the BRD Medical College on the floor of the House on May 22. (UNI)
