PM talking about Bharat Jodo, Sangh Parivar busy in Bharat Todo: Azad
New Delhi: Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new slogan ‘Bharat Jodo’, Congress veteran and former Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that on one hand, Mr Modi was calling for uniting the country, while on the other, the RSS and other affiliated outfits were spreading communal hatred and trying to break the country.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC Headquarters here, Mr Azad said the country was united by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi long ago and it would remain the same, if the Sangh Parivar would stop dividing the nation on the basis of religion and caste.
In his speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort yesterday, on the occasion of 70 years of Independence, the Prime Minister had urged the countrymen to take everyone together, giving the new slogan, ‘Bharat Jodo’.
Talking about Gorakhpur incident, Mr Azad said the whole country was waiting for the Prime Minister to apologise on behalf of Uttar Pradesh government for their big failure, which led to death of more than 65 chikdren at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur.
He said instead of saying sorry, Mr Modi took the issue lightly and mentioned it as a natural calamity.
”I would like to tell Mr Modi that it was not a natural calamity, but a man-made calamity, a very serious and gross mistake committed by the Yogi Adityanath government,” he alleged.
The former Union Health Minister further said the contract of supplying cylinders to the BRD Medical College was given to an Allahabad-based company after Mr Adityanath came to power. This proved fatal for the innocent children, who lost their lives due to the government’s wrong policy, he added.
Talking about PM’s yesterday statement, ”Na goli se, na gaali se, Kashmir ki samasya suljhegi gale lagaane se (Kashmir’s problems can be solved only with embracing the people of Kashmir, not with bullets or abuses)”, the Congress veteran said that both ‘gali’ and ‘goli’ were being showered from the government’s side only.
Explaining further, he said on one hand Mr Modi wants to embrace Kashmir people, while on the other, Sangh parivar outfits like RSS and VHP are constantly abusing Kashmiri people on several media channels.
