Awareness programme on Consumer Protection held at Bandipora
BANDIPORA: A day long awareness programme regarding consumer protection was organized by Consumer Protection Council, J&K in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora, here today. The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), President of the Council, besides officers from District Administration; principals of various schools, representatives of various trade associations were present in the programme.
During the programme, thread bare discussion was held on the awareness and protection of consumer rights and various decisions were taken for implementation of Consumer Protection Act at grass root level.
The ADC on the occasion stressed for launching of a vigorous campaign in educational institutions and ICD centres under the aegis of Designated Officer of Food Safety Department, starting from Aug 19, 2017 this month to impart necessary training regarding proper cooking and storage of food items to Anganwari workers, Helpers and School Midday meal staff. He said schools are the best medium for disseminating awareness.
The ADC who is also Administrator Municipal Committees of the district directed president Poultry Associations and poultry traders to ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness around their shops and also ensure proper disposal of waste.
