Massive search operation resumes in Kupwara
SRINAGAR: A massive search operation by security forces was today resumed in the woods in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said here.
Security forces have launched search operation in Hafrudha forest Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara following a tip off about the presence of militants early yesterday morning. However, when the security forces were searching the woods, the militants hiding there opened fire, they said, adding that the fire was returned and in the initial encounter, an unidentified militant was killed. Three security force personnel were also injured in the encounter.
Later, security forces from other nearby camps also started operation. However, due to darkness, operation was stopped last night, they said, adding that the entire forest area remained sealed to foil any attempt by the militants to escape. (UNI)
