Dera chief verdict: UP police put on alert after violence erupts in Haryana, Punjab

Lucknow: With cases of violence been reported in Haryana and Punjab after a CBI Special Court today pronounced Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty in 2002 rape case, UP police has been placed on alert to avoid escalation of the situation in the state and its adjoining districts.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Anand Kumar said here today that alert has been sounded in the adjoining districts of UP to ensure no spill over of trouble in UP through strict checking on the borders.
“No one or any group should be allowed to foment trouble in UP,” he said in his directives.
The ADG said administrative machinery has been geared up in western UP.
However the adjoining districts of UP bordering with Haryana, where there are supporters of the Dera Saccha Sauda, special security has been ensured. (UNI)
