Protest programs including the strike call for 29th August 2017 have been postponed

This decision has been taken in view of the postponement of hearings on this matter in Indian Supreme Court :JRL

 

Srinagar:The hearing of cases regarding state subject law that have been filed in Indian supreme court have been adjourned after Divali. The hearing on these cases was scheduled for 29th august 2017 and it was in this very context that joint resistance leadership had announced a series of protest programs. Now because hearings in Indian Supreme Court have been postponed, therefore the all announced protest programs including the protest strike (Hartal) on Tuesday 29th August 2017 have been postponed. This was stated by the leaders of joint resistance Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement issued today. Joint leadership said that intended tampering with the state subject law is a ploy to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir and in this way it is directly linked to our right of self determination. Because of this Kashmiris living across the globe stand united against this ploy and are ready to defend this law with passion. He said that Kashmiris are fully aware of the Indian conspiracies and will resist these nefarious designs. Leadership said that since hearing in Indian Supreme Court has been adjourned for now therefore announced protest programs are being postponed for now and if and when need arises, a new protest program will be announced in this regard and nefarious design to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir in the garb of 35 A will be resisted with passion and zeal.
