SF calls off CASO after demonstrations, burst teargas shells in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 30 : Security forces today called off Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) and burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators who were trying to disrupt their work in north Kashmir district of Bandipora today.
Official sources said that security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Hajin in Bandipora district early this morning following a tip off about the presence of militants. However, when the security forces were sealing two localities Wahab Parray and Khos Mohalla, hundreds of people, mostly youths and women, hit the streets and started pelting stones on security forces.
Security forces resorted to lathicharge to stop demonstrators from entering the cordoned off areas which had no impact as they continued slogan shouting and pelting stones. Later, security forces burst teargas shells to control the situation. However, the security forces later called off the operations. (UNI)
