India and Myanmar should cooperate for maritime and strategic security: PM
Naypyidaw, Myanmar, Sept 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said as neighbours India and Myanmar have similar challenges on security front, therefore there is a need for enhanced cooperation for both maritime and strategic security.
“Yeh Jaroori hae ki hum apni lambi zamini aur samudri seema par suraksha aur sthirtha banaye rakhne ke liye milkar kam karey (It is essential that both India and Myanmar have enhanced cooperation and work for stability for maritime and land geographical areas),” Mr Modi said in presence of Myanmar Councillor Aung San Suu Kyi.
He also said India will release 40 Myanmarese citizens lodged in various Indian jails.
He further said Indian Government would grant Gratis (free of charge) Visas to Myanmarese people who want to visit India.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Suu Kyi said the visit of Prime Minister Modi would further deepen the ties between two countries. (UNI)
