Srinagar-Jammu highway reopens for LMVs

 

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country was Thursday thrown open for the Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) for the either sides, official said.

An official in the traffic department told KNS that the authorities have allowed the LMVs to reach their destinations from the either sides today.

He also said that the Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMVs) carrying essentials for Kashmir Valley, which remained stranded from past three days at Udhampur, were allowed to reach their destination today.

He said that the HMVs from Jammu side were allowed to ply towards Kashmir.

However, the fruit laden trucks continued to remain stranded on the roads.

Meanwhile, the official said that traffic plan on the highway for Friday will be decided in late evening today.
