Restrictions lifted, life returns to normal in SeK, downtown Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 16 : Life today returned to normal in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and downtown, Srinagar, where daylong restrictions were imposed to prevent any untoward incident following the killing of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Abu Ismail and his associate Abu Qasim in an encounter on city outskirts on September 14.
Meanwhile, all gates of historic Jamia Masjid, which were closed for the second week (Friday) yesterday, are open for devotees. No Friday prayers could be offered in the Masjid, stronghold of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq.
The District Magistrate (DM) Srinagar, had imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the areas under the jurisdiction of Police Stations, Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal, in district Srinagar as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.  (UNI)
