Had Manmohan Singh visited once as PM, situation would have been quite good: BJP  ‘They are realising why they will be on the back foot’

Srinagar: Ruling BJP today said that the situation in the state is improving and the Opposition Congress does not was to stay back and have started visiting the state.

BJP’s state president, Sat Sharma, while talking about the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh led Congress team’s visit to the state, said that had Dr Manmohan Singh visited the state once when he was PM situation would have been quite good.

“It (the visit) is all-right. Dr Manmohan Singh has been the prime minister of the country. Who can stop him from coming to his place and listening to the people,” Sharma told KNS.

“Had Congress heard and looked into all the issues of the state during its 10 years rule, the situation which was a year ago would not have been that bad. Now situation is improving and, perhaps, Congress does not want to stay back,” he said.

Led by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the 9-member ‘policy planning group’ senior Congress leaders visited the state for four days, and met several delegations of political parties, civil society groups, youth leaders, traders, hoteliers, businessmen, local Kashmiri pandits, minority groups, saffron and fruit growers and students.

“When country’s Home Minister or Prime Minister can visit the state time and again, the Congress has realised why it did not visit the state when it was ruling.”

“Had Dr Manmohan Singh, who is one of the best intellectuals in the country and I have regards for him, visited the state once when he was PM or sent his minister, situation would have been quite good. They are realising why they will be on the back foot and they should come here for the visit,” the BJP president said. (KNS)
