Congress MLA moves Privilege Motion against RDD minister  ‘Have received the notice, will reply: Minister

 

Srinagar: Senior Congress leader and legislator from Inderwal G M Saroori has moved Privilege Motion against PDP Minister for Rural Development Department (RDD) for “irregularities and violations” of rules in allotting work and transferring of block officers.

Talking to KNS, Saroori said that 20 days ago he moved the motion before the Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta against RDD minister Abdul Haq Khan with “evidences and facts”.

“The motion was accepted by the Speaker and even the assembly secretary has issued summon to the minister,” Saroori told KNS.

While revealing the contents of the motion, the MLA said that he has pointed out the irregularities in allotting work of MGNREGA, purchasing of material and plants, promoting nepotism and favouritism for PDP works, ignoring concerned MLA during visit to his constituency in Inderwal, frequent transfers of Block Development Officers among others.

“I have evidence and orders where the minister has transferred BDOs within a fortnight, giving choicest posting to some BDOs, making them incharge for three CD blocks,” he said.

“As per law, I have moved the motion and I stand by it. I will produce the evidence before the committee which the speaker will appoint for probe,” he said.

Saroori said that in Inderwal assembly segment, the minister have given powers to VLWs for maintaining accounts in BDOs offices which “as per government circular cannot be done”.

RDD Minister said that he has received the notice from the Speaker about the Privilege Motion. “I will reply to the motion as I have received the notice,” Khan told KNS.

Earlier, Congress MLAs including Mohammad Amin Bhat (Devsar), Haji Abdul Rashid (Sopore), have moved privilege motions against Khan. (KNS)
