60-70 militants ready to enter India: Army
New Delhi: Around 60 to 70 militants, present on the launching pads in Pakistan are ready to enter India, GOC 19 Division Major General RP Kalita said on Monday. As per the intelligence reports, the militants are ready to infiltrate Indian borders through 19 division of Baramulla from Gulmarg to Naugam of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media, Kalita said, “An infiltration bid was foiled on Monday by alert soldiers along the LoC in Rampur sector of Baramulla district. Around 60-70 militants are present on launching pads and they are ready to infiltrate through 19 division of Baramulla from Gulmarg to Naugam”.
Earlier on Monday, the Army had killed five militants while foiling two infiltration bids along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The infiltration attempts from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were made in Rampur sector in Baramulla district and Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district. The Army had also recovered weapons from them.
Speaking to media, a defence spokesperson had said,”An infiltration bid was foiled by alert soldiers along the LoC in Rampur sector of Baramulla district.”
In another incident, a police head constable was shot dead by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Padgampora region. The deceased was identified as head constable Ashiq Hussain.
On September 30, the Border Security Force (BSF) had unearthed a 14-feet-long tunnel at the international border in Arnia sector which was being dug from the Pakistani side, scuttling a major infiltration bid and a possible militant attack.
