Pediatric doctor misbehaves with 8-month-old baby’s father at SDH Handwara, ‘Tore apart prescription of baby’

Srinagar: Mismanagement and inadequate medical staff in Sub District Hospital (SDH) Handwara is making patients suffer in frontier district of Kupwara.
According to Kashmir Press Service (KPS), a pediatrician posted at hospital namely Dr Firdous Dar attended a eight month old baby at wee hours on Tuesday with initial checkup and directed his father to come at noon for further treatment.
When the father namely Mohammad Yousuf War resident of Magam Handwara along with his baby visited hospital in the afternoon, the said doctor not only tore apart the prescription but misbehaves with the patient’s father saying you have reached here late.
Alleging the misbehavior by the pediatrician at Sub District Hospital, Handwara Mohammad Yousuf said, the doctor not only misbehaved but tore apart the prescription and throw out of window.
“Rather than treating a patient in the hospital, they (doctors) advice them to come to their private clinics,” a local resident Mohammad Yousuf said, adding that most of them (doctors) have their own labs and clinics outside the hospital.
He said that some doctors haven’t been transferred from here despite being posted for past several years. “They have created monopoly here,” Yosuf added.
“Most of the infants and children suffering with any kind of ailment are referred to Srinagar as they don’t check babies properly here,” he added.
Most of the attendants and patients alleged that corruption is rampant in the hospital in various forms. (KPS)
