NIA arrests Syed Salahuddin’s son in 2011 funding case of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen
“Yusuf was arrested today in Delhi after he was called for questioning at the NIA (National Investigation Agency) headquarters in an old case of funding registered in 2011,” reported IANS news agency.
Yusuf, a resident of Soibugh in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, was arrested in a case (RC-06/2011/NIA/DLI), pertaining to financing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
“Syed Shahid Yusuf, over the years, has been receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Aijaz Ahmad Bhat@Aijaz Maqbool Bhat, member of HM, an absconder in the aforesaid case, originally resident of Solina Payeen, now residing in Saudi Arabia,” said a statement, issued by the NIA.
Yusuf is postgraduate in Agriculture and has been working in the Department of Agriculture, Jammu and Kashmir, as village Agriculture Extension Assistant at his native village Soibugh.
The arrest comes a day after Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday announced the decision to start a dialogue process in Jammu and Kashmir and named former Intelligence Bureau Director Dineshwar Sharma as its representative for the talks with all stakeholders in the state.
