Will try my best to meet Hurriyat: Interlocutor
New Delhi: New Delhi’s “special representative” to Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma on Wednesday said he “will try his best to meet Hurriyat leaders.”
“I will try my best,” Sharma replied to a journalist after being asked whether he will “walk an extra mile by talking to Hurriyat”.
He made the remark after meeting lone communist leader from Kashmir Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami.
Sharma said his meeting with people were “very good.”
“I met many people. I wish that peace returns to Kashmir. I will also try to meet Hurriyat,” the former Intelligence Bureau head said.
On Monday, Sharma, a former Intelligence Bureau head, arrived in Srinagar to initiate a “sustained dialogue” with stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.
Yesterday, he met with 37 delegations.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have already rejected talks with him. They have termed his appointment as “nothing more than a tactic to buy time” by New Delhi.
