Installation of New X-Ray Machines at Srinagar Airport for Improved Passengers Convenience

Srinagar (KPS) : Airports Authority of India, Srinagar Airport is delighted to announce the installation
of Twelve new X-Ray baggage screening machines , Six at Terminal building, four at
main gate and two at Cargo Terminal, designed to improve security, safety,
convenience, for passengers waiting in a long queue for multi security checks
Feedback received from users is very much appreciated which definitely increased
comfort and reduced congestion during check-in process at all points. One of the
frequent traveller Shri Altaf Ahmed remarked that present system has reduced the
long queues at main gate. Airlines observed that this upgrade will be good for
passengers using the airport and good for those who work here. These new X-
Ray machines enhances efforts of the Srinagar Airport to modernise equipment
processes and systems that will support security agencies to facilitate better and
safe travels for the public and are adequate to cater the current requirement.

In commissioning the new machines, Airport Director, Srinagar Airport, Shri Sharad
Kumar said the machines stationed at the Srinagar international airport costs
Airports Authority of India Rs 3 Crores approx.. “These machines are state-of- the-art
and provide us with a new, faster and upgraded screening. “Every incoming
passenger will have their luggage screened in a manner that complies with the latest
international standards, which Srinagar Airport is committed to meet being a
hyper sensitive airport category.”

Shri Sharad Kumar said these new machines will provide the impetus for better and
wider coverage of contraband and illegal items also. Srinagar Airport is continuing in
its efforts to offer world class facilities so that it is easier to use for all passengers. (KPS)
