SC quashes plea against Padmavati’s release outside India
New Delhi, Nov 28 : The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking to stall the release of ‘Padmavati’ outside India.
While dismissing the petition, a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, observed that when the matter is pending consideration of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), how can persons holding public offices comment on whether the CBFC should issue certificate or not? This will prejudice the decision making power of the CBFC.
The bench dismissed the plea filed by lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma and slammed him for filing a frivolous petition.
