Sooner, Dialysis facilities to be available in district hospitals

 

Jammu:  Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat has called for further streamlining the services in the health institutions across the State with special focus in the rural and far-off areas.

While reviewing the progress of vital services in the peripheral institutions, the Minister directed the Directors Health Services, Kashmir and Jammu to personally monitor the important schemes so that the benefits of the same percolate down to the needy. He called for strengthening the services at the district, tehsil and block level institutions to curtail the flow of patients at the tertiary level institutions. He issued strict instructions to both the Directors Health Services to check unnecessary referral of cases with minor problems to the higher institutions as the diagnostic facilities with the services of specialists of different disciplines are adequately available in these institutions.

The issues relating to the installation of Dialysis machines in the district hospitals, operationalizaton of Critical care Ambulances, strengthening the network of 102 and 108 ambulatory service, action against the absent doctors, introduction of Rehber-e-Sehat scheme for engaging the manpower in critical areas were discussed in detail and it was stressed to pay focused attention on these issues of public importance.

The Minister called upon both the Directors to immediately set in motion the process of making operational the Dialysis facilities at the district level hospitals within next three months. He directed for deputing two doctors and technicians from each district to undergo technical training for handling the Dialysis machines in the district hospitals. He also directed for clearing decks to launch the 108 Ambulance services and Critical Care services which is dire need of the hour. He also directed for mooting a proposal for introduction of Rehber-e-Sehat on the analogy of Rehbre-e-Taleem and other such schemes to engage manpower for the understaffed institutions.

Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Directors Health Services, Kashmir/Jammu, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Dr. Gurjeet Singh Soodan, Director Finance, Mohammad Rafiq, Additional Secretary Health, K.S. Chib and Joint Director Planning, Madan Lal Bhagat were present in the meeting.
