Curfew like restrictions in SeK, down town Srinagar
Srinagar, Dec 15: Curfew like restrictions have been imposed in the Shaher-e-Khas (SeK) and Down Town Srinagar since morning to prevent any demonstration or protests on Friday, when separatists had called for a rally at Anantnag in south Kashmir.
Police said Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in the SeK and Down Town areas falling under the jurisdiction of five police stations of M R Gunj, Safa Kadal, Nowhatta, Khanyar and Rainawari since Friday morning to maintain law and order.
There are no restriction in the civil lines or any other part of the city, police said.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwgaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik have called for a rally today at Lal Chowk, Anantnag, where authorities have also imposed restrictions to prevent assembly of people.
The main gates of historic Jamia Masjid, stronghold of Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz, were again closed today and a large number of security forces and state police personnel had been deployed to prevent devotees from going inside.
