Congress prevents Tendulkar from delivering maiden speech: Forces Rajya Sabha adjournment

New Delhi, Dec 21 : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday as Congress party members continued to disrupt proceedings over its demand for an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Pakistan conspiracy remarks against his predecessor Manmohan Singh and on 2G spectrum acquittals.

The Government attempted to break the deadlock by fielding noted cricketer and nominated member Sachin Tendulkar to deliver his maiden speech in a short-duration discussion, but it did not deliver.

It was the fifth straight day that there was no transaction of government business in the Council of States.
