Guwahati, Feb 6 : Three minor girls were killed and two others injured in a fire that razed to ground 12 houses in a single compound in Patarkuchi area in Basistha in Assam’s main city Guwahati.
Official sources said the fire started past midnight and quickly engulfed the entire compound.
While most of the residents managed to escape, three girls – aged between 3 to 8, could not be rescued and were killed in the fire.
Two other girls sustained injuries in the blaze.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby areas.
