Upgrade infrastructure at DH Shopian:  PDP MLA asks govt

Jammu: PDP legislator from Wachi constituency- advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir today asked the state government to remove signboard of District Hospital Shopian till it gets infrastructural revamp.

Speaking during the zero hour in the legislative assembly, Mir said the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Shopian was upgraded to District Hospital when Shopian was accorded status of district, but the infrastructure facilities in the health centre is still at par of CHC.

“I believe the government has only changed the signboard of the health centre, rest it has same infrastructure, including doctors and paramedical staff as existed when it was CHC,” said Aijaz, adding that Shopian is a hilly district and people face lots of problems due to unavailability of doctors and other staff.

He requested the speaker to direct government to either remove the signboard or take cognizance of the matter and upgrade the health facilities.

He further said that Public Health Centre of DK Pora, Nadigam and Hermain are facing acute shortage of doctors and para medical staff and government must take care of it
