J&K to focus on wooing domestic tourists, engage with embassies to dilute advisories
Srinagar, Feb 8 : Asserting that India has a huge domestic market which can be channelized to increase the footfall of tourists in the Valley, Kashmir Tourism Director Mahmood Ahmad Shah on Thursday said the number of Indians who go abroad on vacations is twice the number of foreigners who visit the country every year.
However, stating that emphasis will also be laid on increase foreign tourists, Mr Shah said embassies of different European counties will be engaged to get the travel advisories issued by their respective government diluted.
The Director said they have been able to make an inroad in South East Asia markets, which has resulted in an increase of tourist influx from countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Bangladesh.
“If you see the dynamics of tourism in the country as many as 1 crore foreigners have come to India and 2 crore Indians have gone abroad for vacations.
So that means our outbound is twice then our inbound.
