New courts will be opened once HC recommends: Govt

Jammu: Demanding opening of more courts in Jammu and Kashmir, PDP MLA from Wachi advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir Thursday said there is dire need of opening more courts in the State.
He said the courts across the state have become overloaded with the work as thousands and thousands of litigations are pending.
“The courts are same while the strength of lawyers has increased manifold over the years. More and more lawyers are getting enrolled, but there continues to remain a limited number of courts,” he said.
Mir said there are senior lawyers already in these already established courts. “The senior lawyers are already in these courts. If at one time there were 20 lawyers in any court, now the strength has increased with more and more young lawyers getting enrolled,” he said.
Mir demanded the government to establish more courts in the state so that the process of judiciary works at a fast pace. “People have to wait for years and years to get their cases solved. Time has come to solve cases within a stipulated time so that justice is delivered on time,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state government in reply to a supplementary question by the MLA said that all the courts are established on the recommendations of the High Court. “As and when the recommendations in this regard will be received, the government may consider the demand for setting up of new courts,” reads the reply.
