Srinagar: Spontaneous shutdown was followed by clashes between protesters and government forces in Vessu area of south Kashmir’s Qazigund area on Tuesday.
Local sources said that clashes erupted after rumours that a local militant, Shakoor was killed in a gunfight with forces in Karan Nagar Srinagar.
Heavy deployment of forces was also witnessed in Sopat area of Qazigund near Vessu however it was later removed.
Two unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight with forces in Karan Nagar Srinagar.
The identification of the slain was being ascertained, sources said.
