Day-4: Srinagar-Jammu highway continues to remain shut

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar – Jammu strategic national highway continues to remain closed for the fourth consecutive day today due to the landslide.

Reports said that long queue of vehicles are stranded on the 300 kilometer long highway besides scores of passengers are also stranded in Jammu and on the highway.

Traffic department official said, “The road clearance work is under process. No vehicle will be allowed till the work is completed”. Official said that the traffic could be restored soon if the weather conditions improve. Official said that nobody should start journey before contacting traffic control rooms of Srinagar and Jammu.

Reports said that at least 2000 vehicles are stranded the road which also led to the heavy traffic jam on national highway.

Meanwhile the shopkeepers in Kashmir are also running out of stock as the essential commodity supplies loaded in trucks are stuck on highway.
