We are in proxy war in JK, remain careful, DGP to security personnel

Srinagar: Cautioning security force personnel to be more careful, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid said we are fighting a proxy war in the Jammu and Kashmir.

Reacting to killing of two personnel of state police at separate places on Sunday, we lost precious lives in the violence.

Taking to micro-blogging site twitter Dr Vaid said “we have lost another precious life when Constable Farooq Ahmad was martyred today in Srinagar. Be more careful boys, it’s the proxy war that we are fighting in Jammu & Kashmir”.

“Pained at the loss of a valued colleague SGCt kultar Singh JKAP 13 Bn who attained martyredom in an attack on J&K Police guard for protection of Charar – e – shareif shrine”, he tweeted.

Selection Grade Constable (SG Ct) Kultar Singh was shot dead by militants at the Shrine of Charar-e-Sharief in central Kashmir district of Badgam. Militants who fired at Mr Singh from a close range with a pistol also took away his service weapon, Self Loading Rifle (SLR) in the afternoon yesterday.

Later in the evening militants also shot dead a constable Farooq Ahmad Yatoo, at the residence of separatist leader Fazal Haq Qureshi at Soura. Militants also took away his service rifle before escaping from the spot.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for these attacks.
