Video: Specially abled persons stages protest In Srinagar, demands welfare measures
SRINAGAR, FEB, 26: Scores of specially abled people today held a protest demonstration under the banner of jammu and Kashmir handicapped association to press for the fulfillment of their demands of welfare.
Carrying ply cards into their hands, they assembled at press enclave in Srinagar. They demanded the implementation of disabled act 2016, special recruitment for disabled people, implementation of pending CRC (composite Regional center) and also a self group like engineers.
While talking to media Abdul Rashid Bhat President of J&K Handicapped Association said,”Government has not helped us in any way, neither in the means of employment nor implemented the disability act in Kashmir which has been passed in parliament earlier in 2016. Government has forced us to come on roads as we are suffering”.
They said that earlier this month a high level meeting was organized by the president of Association Abdul Rashid Bhat to discuss the issues related to handicapped people. Adding that the government has turned deaf to the issues of handicapped people in the stare .
They appealed Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir to take up their genuine demands before the government. They said that the disabled people waited for the whole budget session but Government failed take steps for their welfare.
Pertinently there are 4 lac disabled people in the state which is equal to 9% of the total
Population.
