PM departs for China; to hold 2-day informal summit with Chinese President

New Delhi, Apr 26 Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed Thursday on a two-day visit to Wuhan in
China, for an informal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where the two will exchange views
on a range of issues of bilateral and global importance.
The visit has raised expectations in several quarters coming as it does months after the Doklam
standoff between the two Asian neighbours.
Prior to his departure to China, the PM in a statement said ‘We will discuss our respective visions
and priorities for national development, particularly in the context of current and future international situation.’
The two leaders will also review the developments in the India-China relations from ‘a strategic and
long-term perspective”, the statement added.
Mr Modi’s meeting with Mr Xi is expected to give the two leaders a chance at arriving at an
understanding and pave way for improved relations.(uni)
