No let-up in harassment to students studying outside JK: Hurriyat (G)
Srinagar, Apr 28: Hurriyat Conference (G) strongly condemned ‘harassment and intimidating’ students and said “despite assurances, there seems no let-up in the intimidation and harassment of Kashmiri students pursuing studies outside Jammu Kashmir.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman in statement issued to KNS said that pursuing education is a basic right, however Kashmiri students are suspected everywhere and beleaguered simply because of their Kashmiri origin.
Meanwhile, strongly condemning unabated arrest and harassment of leaders and activists, the spokesman said “such methods cannot weaken the will of Hurriyat leadership and activists.”
“The arrest of Ashiq Hussain Narchoor, Asif Ahmad Dada and Ashfaq Ahmad Kotwal in Islamabad (Anantnag) is unjustified, saying Ashiq Hussain is a political worker and in no way is related to militancy while as the two-detained youth are not connected to any political party,” spokesman said.
Strongly decrying the detention of political workers and civilians on one pretext or the other, spokesman said that youth are being caged on fake and fabricated charges just for material gains and promotions and added “slapping PSAs on pro-freedom leaders and activists have always been a tool of the rulers to try and force the people and leadership into submission.” (Agencies)
