Rahul Gandhi seeks blessings of Suttur Seer
Mysuru, Apr 28 : All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi visited Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill here on Friday night had discussed with political situation of the state which is going to polls on May 12.
The Congress scion met and sought the blessings of Suttur Mutt Seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, PWD and District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, AICC General Secretary In-charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal and others. JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr C G Betsurmath was also present.
In the previous leg of campaigning in March, Rahul Gandhi was slated to visit the mutt, but could not do so following which he faced criticism.
Amid extensive political campaigning by the two front runners, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish their reign in the southern state, the Lingayat community has been a key focus of the two contenders, with extensive efforts being made to appeal to the Lingayat-Veerashaiva faith.
