New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the issue of the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits was very much alive and the Central government was in talks with the government in Jammu and Kashmir to work out a plan for their return to their homeland.
On the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China, the Union Minister said it was to improve bilateral ties and discuss permanent solution on contentious border and other issues, including Doklam. He ridiculed the statement of the AICC President Rahul Gandhi, without mentioning his name, that the PM was tense during his China visit.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to keep good relations with all neighbouring countries. He has visited almost all neighbours to better bilateral ties. He visit to China is with that perspective only. There is nothing unusual in it. The opposition is unnecessarily targeting the PM,” he clarified.
Talking to media Singh, who was on a two-day visit to Lucknow and Kanpur, sought to clarify that the Central government has not dumped the issue of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.
“The issue is very much alive and talks are on with the state government to work out a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits back to their homes in Jammu and Kashmir,” he disclosed.
On the question of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Singh said that the issue is in the Supreme Court and it would be inappropriate for him to make any comment.
“A strategy has been chalked out to deal firmly with naxal activities. We have effectively controlled naxal activities in the last four years. Our government will not tolerate insurgency in any part of the country,” he warned.
On the law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the Union Home minister patted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for improving it tremendously in the last one year. “The law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh has improved tremendously under the Yogi Adityanath government in the last one year. Criminals now fear for their lives and find jails safe haven,” he said.
During his two-day personal visit, Singh went to the Ashram of his Spiritual Guru Santosh Dubey at Harihar Dham in Kanpur to offer prayers. He spent about three hours at his Spiritual Guru’s Ashram. He also met party leaders and workers in Kanpur and attended a wedding in Lucknow.
