Srinagar: Two civilian youths were hit by bullets after militants and government forces exchanged heavy firing in Turkewangam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
Locals informed agencies that the injured included Innayat Ahmad and Rahil Ahmad. Both the injured were hit by bullets.
Earlier gunfight broke out after a joint team of army and SOG was fired upon by militants in Terkiwangam.
The party according to official sources had started search operation following specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
The forces team approached the suspected spot amid firing some warning shots, they said adding, the militants, hiding in the area, opened fire, triggering off a gunfight.(agencies)
