CCG endorses joint demand of ceasefire during Ramazan

‘GoI must initiate purposeful dialogue with all stakeholders in a time-bound manner’

Srinagar, May 12 : The Concerned Citizens Group (CCG) headed by former External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha Saturdaystrongly endorsed the joint demand of the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir for a ceasefire during the sacred month of Ramazan.
According to the statement issued to KPS, the group said the security forces must observe the ceasefire strictly and should fire only when fired upon.
“The Government of India must initiate a purposeful dialogue in the meanwhile with all stakeholders in a time-bound manner,” they said.
“We also appeal to all concerned in J&K to abjure violence during Ramazan as well as the ensuing Amarnath Yatra and respond positively to the initiative of the government if it takes such an initiative,” they added.
Notably, the CCG include Yashwant Sinha, former External Affairs and Finance Minister, Rajmohan Gandhi, Author, A. P. Shah, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Wajahat Habibullah, former Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, Vappala Balachandran, former Special Secretary, cabinet secretariat, Govt. of India, KapilKak, Air-vice Marshal (Retd), KC Singh, former Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Bharat Bhushan, Journalist, Sushobha Barve, Executive Secretary, Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation.
