Police chief directs IGP to take action twitter user for his abusive tweet
Srinagar, May 12 : Days after a twitter user used abusive language against people of Kashmir, Director General of Police (DGP), Shesh Pal Vaid on Saturday directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range to lodge an FIR against a twitter user for using abusive language against Kashmiris.
DGP while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) over phone said that he has directed Swayam Prakash Pani to take legal action against the twitter user for his abusive tweet.
Meanwhile, Police said that it has booked a twitter user after he rolled out few abusive tweets from his twitter handle.
“Police in Kashmir took cognizance of the matter after it found tweet posts were abusive and attract offences covered under law,” police spokesman said.
Consequently, police has registered a case in this matter at Police Station Kothi Bagh under FIR No: 39/2018 under section 505(1) C RPC, 66 IT Act. Investigation in the instant matter has been started to ascertain the facts pertaining to the case.
“Police has also directed a communication to the authorities in Twitter India requesting them to provide the details of this particular twitter user so that he is made to face the law,” he said. (KNS)
