On JRL’s call, JKLF protests, scores detained

If rulers really believe in democracy, they should allow peaceful political programs: Malik

Srinagar, May 19 : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday said that on one hand Kashmiris are being massacred, killed, maimed, blinded, choked and oppressed by Indian occupational forces and on the other hand oppressors are arranging visit of Indian Prime Minister to Kashmir to hoodwink international opinion and give an impression that all is well here.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said that Jammu Kashmir has been turned into a battle field where innocent young boys are being killed, maimed, blinded, injured, arrested, humiliated and pushed to the wall.
“It was idiotic to force silence of a graveyard by using military might and designate it as peace and if India and its local supporters think that they can achieve their goal by doing so they are living in fool’s paradise,” Malik said.
He said that if Indian rulers and their ‘abettors’ really believe in democracy and freedom of speech, they should stop their oppressive tactics and allow resistance camp to hold peaceful political programs.
Applauding people of Kashmir for their exemplary protest strike today, Malik said that the oppressive measures unleashed by police and other forces to stop today’s peaceful protest sit-in at Lal chowk should serve as an eye opener for those who assume that Kashmir resistance was not a people’s resistance for freedom and also that it can be crushed by military might.
“If Indian rulers think that oppression unleashed by their army and forces has crushed resistance in Kashmir, then they should find some courage to lift ban on political activities of the resistance camp and allow such programs,” asserted Yasin Malik
Meanwhile, Malik has paid tributes to Shaheed-I-Kashmir Ishfaq Majeed Wani who embraced martyrdom on third day of Ramazan in 1990.
Recalling his childhood friend, Malik said that it was Majeed’s desire to embrace martyrdom on Friday, while fasting and this is what he had written on the first page of his personal dairy.
“I wish it is holy month of Ramadhan and I am fasting and embrace martyrdom while fasting”, are the exact words he had written and every word he wrote came true for that great son of soil, Malik said.
Malik said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a born leader, a humble slave of Allah almighty who whenever took a step strived in the way of truth and justice. “He was a symbol of Courage, Fearlessness, religiousness, passion, and resistance against the False and injustice,” he said.
Malik who was arrested by police on 17th May 2018 and is still in police custody, said that it was Wani’s gallant leadership in 1988 that gave courage to hundreds of young men to stand up for the cause of freedom.
“Ashfaq Majid Wani led a people’s revolution in 1990 and changed the 5000 year old history of Kashmir. It was his leadership that united a nation which was tagged as coward and inactive for the just cause of freedom and history bears a witness that thousands of young people followed Ashfaq Majeed Wani in this struggle. Ashfaq Majeed was a Practicing follower of Quran, a brave commander, a wise political leader, a refined diplomat, a fiery speaker, a respected student and a great athlete,” he said.
He said that he was a True picture of great predecessors and follower of father of nation Mohammad Maqbool Bhat Shaheed.
Meanwhile, despite stringent curfew, restrictions by police and Indian forces, JKLF leaders and activists managed to reach and gather near Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk today.
Bypassing police cordons, restrictions and barricades, JKLF leaders and activists today managed to reach Maisuma and started their march towards Lal Chowk, spokesman said.
He said that police which had already laid cordon around whole area immediately swung into action and cordoned this JKLF march from all sides.
JKLF leaders and activists resisted this police aggression and raised enthusiastic slogans in favor of freedom and against gross human rights violations by Indian occupational forces in Kashmir, he said, adding that police on the occasion arrested JKLF leaders and activists including zonal vice president Muhammad Sideeq shah, zonal general secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, along with Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Sheikh M Aslam, Muhammad Haneef Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie, Basharat Ahmad Butt.
