Asghar Khan case: Nawaz to submit response
Islamabad, Jun 7 :Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to submit a response in the Asghar Khan case after Supreme Court asked dozens of respondents, who had already been issued notices, to submit their written replies within three-four days.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar had earlier directed 31 respondents, including Nawaz Sharif and Javed Hashmi, to submit written replies by June 9, said a report in Pakistani TV news channel Geo News.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader will be represented by Barrister Munawar Iqbal Duggal in the case.
The top court had, on June 2, issued notices to Nawaz and senior politician Javed Hashmi as well as 19 other civilians named in the case to appear before it on Tuesday, but Nawaz failed to do so. The Attorney General apprised the bench that Mr Sharif could not attend the apex court proceedings because he was attending a reference before an accountability court.
‘Nawaz Sharif will be represented by his lawyer,’ said the Attorney General told the court, adding that former premier is looking for a legal counsel to represent him.
The court granted time to Nawaz Sharif to seek a legal counsel in the case.
