Kumaraswamy tries to pacify disgruntled Congress leaders to uphold the interests of Coalition Govt

Bengaluru, June 8 : Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday met some of the senior Congress leaders who had raised a banner of revolt for not being inducted into the JD(S)-Congress coalition government expanded on June 6.
Mr Kumaraswamy, who went to the residence of former water resources Minister M B Patil, later told newsmen that his visit was purely in the interest of the maintaining the alliance and he had no personal interest in meeting him. “It is the duty of Congress leaders to look into the issue. It is not in my hand. I cannot take independent decision but what is needed is a collective decision by the Congress leaders,” he added.
Replying to a question, Mr Kumaraswamy said that “I will convey my opinion to the AICC leaders and ask them to sort out the issue at the earliest in the interests of both the parties.”
He said that it is common in any party that disappointment crops up whenever expansion takes place and it is the responsibility of that party to pacify their leaders. Congress leaders should active quickly and put an end to the issue by taking disgruntled leaders into confidence.
Mr Patil, in his reaction, said that ” I am again reiterating that there is no difference of opinion in the Congress party. Disappointed leaders will sit and discuss future course of action to be adopted. Meanwhile party leaders including KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, who is also Deputy Chief Minister should also consider our demand.”
Replying to a question about the intervention of Mr Kumaraswamy he said that “there is no need to attach any significance to his visit. I told him to avoid the visit, but he insisted on meeting me’. Meanwhile, the political activities in the Congress circle by disgruntled leaders took ugly turn when a youth, demanding Minister post to Legislator N A Haris, threatened to commit suicide by hanging himself with a rope in front of KPCC office in the city on Friday.
The state had been witnessing protests from various parts of the state over the non inclusion of leaders in various districts in the Ministry
This development might have also come in the way of Portfolio allotment to the new Ministers even after 48 hours of their induction into the cabinet.
