Officials taking bribe on wheat purchase from farmers in UP: Shivpal

Lucknow, Jun 9 : A couple days after suspension of Fatehpur district Magistrate Kumar Prashant for irregularity in wheat purchase by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi, another corruption issue has come to the fore with senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav alleging on Saturday that the government officials in Etawah and Auriyya districts were demanding Rs 200 per quintal wheat as bribe from the farmers.
SP MLA from Jaswantnagar in Etawah has shot off a letter to the Chief Minister on Saturday to look into this corruption by the government officials at the wheat purchase centres in Etawah and Auriyya.

The letter, which was also released to the media, said that the Agriculture officers, marketing officers and others are in nexus with other senior officials in collecting Rs 200 per quintal from the farmers as bribe.

“The farmers are harassed by these officials, if they refuse to pay the bribe. Besides, such corruption has created problem for the farmers who are already facing severe hike in the prices of inputs used for agricultural purpose,” he said in his letter.

Earlier, UP CM had suspended the DM of Fatehpur on Thursday along with six other officials of the district for disrupting the wheat purchase in the district.
