Police detain vehicle for illegal soil extraction in Budgam, people pelt stones
Budgam: Protests broke out at Nasrullapora in central Kashmir’s Budgam on Saturday after a vehicle (carrying illegally extracted soil) chased by police rammed with a wall, police said.
Police officials while talking to Kashmir Reader said that when a police party was going somewhere in a vehicle when a tipper carrying illegally extracted soil was spotted plying on road.
“As police asked him to stop, he did not pay any heed to police call, instead he accelerated the vehicle and flee away,” police said.
They added that when police began to chase him, the driver straightly drove to Takipora Nasrullapora and rammed vehicle with a wall.
The people immediately came out and pelted stones on police resulting in clashes.
Locals alleged that forces resorted to teargas shelling and ransacked windowpanes of several houses. However police denied any such incident.
Pertinently the extraction of soil in Budgam kerawas has been banned by the district administration. (Agencies)
