CPI(M) strike paralyzed life in North Tripura town

Agartala, Jun 20 : Normal life affected and movement of vehicles on National
Highway 8 have been affected following dawn to dusk strike called by opposition
CPI (M) on Wednesday in Panisagar sub-division of North Tripura protesting
against the killing one of their leader on June 18 night.
The CPI (M) accused ruling party workers of the murder and demanded to arrest
the culprit as well as to stop killing and atrocities on the opposition. In last three
months of BJP-IPFT government as many as four CPI (M) workers were killed in
different parts of the state.
Police said the body of CPI (M) Panisagar sub-division committee member and
former Zilla Parisad member Tapas Sutradhar (52) was from poll of blood yesterday.
The assaultant slit his throat and dissect his respiratory track when he was returning
from a marriage party at night.
Nobody is arrested so far in connection with the case; however, police claimed
investigation is progressing well and the accused persons will be arrested soon.
The party alleged that Sutradhar was killed by a group of IPFT workers.
On the same day, TV journalist Suman Debnath (30) was also attacked by one
Simin Mia involved in oil pilferage gang in Dharmanagar in the same night in the
same style. However, Suman survived because he was suffered from deep vocal
cord cut but his respiratory track was not hit.
Police arrested one Mihir Deb of Dharmanagar for attacking the journalist alleged
over a dispute regarding some news items published against a gang of fuel theft
has been operating for past many years. However, the main accused Simin is on run.
