Udhampur, Jun 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Joint Coordination Committee of Private Schools participated in a 3-day workshop organized by the central body of J&K Private Schools Association at Kud under the chairmanship of its President Kamal Gupta.
The JKJCCPS delegation was led by its President Showkat Chowdhary who was also accompanied by M Y Manzar, Altaf Gowhar, Rouf Zargar, Syed Akhar Hussain, Owais Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad and Javed Iqb al.
General Secretary of the Association Ajay Gupta briefed the participants about the agenda including hefty revised inspection fee by JKBOSE without consulting stakeholders or representatives of the schools, unreasonable pressure of fee fixation committee and District Administration on self financed private schools, dissimilar conditions and criteria by the DSE Jammu and DSE Kashmir while granting permission / recognition up to class 8th in the same State i.e. J & K.
Impact of Condition for the compliance of SRO-290 dated 06/09/16 while granting permission / recognition up to class 8th by the DSE Jammu was also discussed.
More than 100 members who were present in the meeting expressed their anguish towards the problems they face at the hands of the state government.
The meeting observed that state government has imposed all type of levies and taxes on the self-financed low budget private schools.
They said it has become difficult for them to earn two times meal and the unrealistic and hostile attitude of the state government has discouraged the volunteers who are promoting education.
President JKJCCPS Showkat Chowdhary expressed his full support them and said coordination committee would fight tooth and nail to protect all small and major establishments rendering yeomen services in the state.
President of the J&K PSA Kamal Gupta urged the education department to come out with clear cut policy to give solid support to the Private Schools which are being run by the self employed volunteers in urban, semi urban, rural and in far flung areas of the state. He said they are sharing about 60% burden of the government.
He also urged the associates to unite and strengthen the organization to fight against the bureaucratic hurdles created time and again to demoralize all who are wholly and solely dependent on this profession.
They also appealed to the Governor of the State N.N. Vohra to intervene and install a mechanism which is acceptable to all the stakeholders of Private Education sector to save this venture from harassment and extinction.
They also demanded uniform orders and formalities for Private schools on the same pattern as demanded by tutorials, coaching centers, hobby centers, tuition centers etc. for granting recognition / permission because the nature of work and risk factor is same in all the cases.
