Probe all backdoor appointments in JK bank, other depts: Vakil to Vohra
‘Open corruption cases against ex-minister pending in SAC’
Demands speedy probe into Shujaat Bukhari’s killing
Srinagar 26 June 2018: President Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil Tuesday asked Governor N N Vohra to initiate probe into all the backdoor appointments and corruption cases during the Mehbooba Mufti led regime. In a statement issued here, Vakil was addressing the core group meeting of the party here. The members during the meeting demanded that the Vohra administration should open the lid on all the backdoor and political appointments done by the previous regime. “We demand a probe into all the backdoor appointments in J&K bank, Social Welfare department and other departments,” Vakil said. He said some people were given the prized positions in the administration which they were not entitled to. “All embezzlements, corruption cases and favouritism should be probed, so that justice is delivered to those whose rights were muzzled,” he said.
He also demanded that the vital State Accountability Commission (SAC) should be empowered. “It was rendered functionless by the last government. The SAC chairman was himself crying his helplessness,” Vakil said. He said the SAC should be reenergised so that the cases of corruption against the former ministers and bureaucrats will be investigated. “There are cases pending in SAC, but it is not able to act against these corrupt elements,” Vakil said. He hoped that the Governor N N Vohra, who is seen as an able administrator will look into these burning issues and all those who looted the state this or that way are taken to task. He also appealed to Governor that there was a need to take some confidence building measures (CBM) to win over the hearts of people.
“The political prisoners should be released and this roaring of guns should stop so that conducive atmosphere for talks is made,” Vakil said. He reiterated that both NC and PDP have secret pact to shield each other’s wrong doings and corrupt acts. “They rotate the power and continue to defend each other. This has been the policy of both these dynasty parties to save each other’s skin,” he said.
Vakil said that the Governor should probe into the killing of civilians and culprits should be booked. Vakil during the core group meeting paid rich tributes to Rising Kashmir founder Editor Shujaat Bukhari and prayed for his departed soul. The members demanded the speedy investigation into the gruesome killing of Bukhari, so that the culprits are punished without any delay or doubts. Meeting was also addressed by General Secretary Syed Rafiq Shah, Secretary Syed Gowhar, Cheif Spokesperson Hakim Parvaiz, Youth Secretary Rizwan Illahi.
