KPCC Chief warns Siddaramaiah against making statements against Coalition government

Bengaluru, June 28 :  Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G Parameshwara, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, objected former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for making statements against the functioning of the Congress and JD(S) Coalition government in the State.
“I also warn all the party leaders and Ministers against misinterpreting statements of Mr Siddaramaiah or issuing their own statements against the coalition government headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. There is no difference of opinion in both the parties. Congress has extended unconditional support to JD(S) and we will maintain it for the five years”, he said speaking to reporters after a meeting of ministers belonging to Congress party at KPCC office here on Thursday.
Mr Siddaramaiah who had stayed in a naturopathy centre in Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district had reportedly created a churn in the State government by opposing Mr Kumaraswamy presenting a new budget and insisted that the government should implement the budget he had presented before the Assembly elections as it was a coalition government. He had also allegedly expressed doubts of the coalition government continuing after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Replying to a question, Dr Parameshwara said that the AICC was closely watching the happenings in the State and if necessity arises it will intervene and take suitable action against any leader who was trying to create confusion, including against Mr Siddaramaiah.
“He (Mr Siddaramaiah) is the CLP leader in the House and he is also Chairman of the Coordination Committee. Since his statements carries high values, he as a responsible leader, should restrain himself from making any statements (if he had made any) on the coalition government,” he added.
Mr Parameshwara said that the Coordination Committee is scheduled to meet on July One at New Delhi subject to approval by Committee Convenor Danish Ali, who is also JDS National Secretary.
About today’s meeting with party Ministers, Mr Parameshwara said that the main agenda was to prepare the party for the Lok Sabha election due next year.
“Some Ministers have suggested that the appointment of District In-charge Ministers should be done without delay so that they can also strengthen the party from gross root for the next year Lok Sabha election. I have promised them that the issue will be discussed with Mr Kumaraswamy and appointments will be made soon,” he added.
To another question, the KPCC president said that after hectic political activities during the Assembly election everybody in the party needed rest and Mr Siddaramaiah selected Dharmastala nature cure center.
When asked about dues to farmers from Sugar Mills, Mr Parameshwara said that Sugar Minister will look into and the State government is taking up many steps, including loan waiver, to protect the interests of the farmers.
He said that he had asked all the Ministers and various departments to gear up to prepare the party as per AICC guidelines for the Lok Sabha election due next year.
On Cabinet expansion to fill the vacant posts, Dr Parameshwara said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister to decide on the matter and Congress party was ready to use the vacant seats in the cabinet in its quota whenever the expansion takes place.
While Congress has six vacant seats, JD(S) has one to be filled in the Kumaraswamy cabinet.
